Erin completed her B.A.(Hons) at Queen’s University and then she obtained her two social work degrees at McGill University. She also received her law degree (LL.B) from McGill (joint program MSW/LLB, 2000). Once Erin completed her social work internships at the Montreal Neurological Hospital and the Ministry of Health’s Psychiatric Patient Advocate Office, she articled at a mid-size Bay Street law firm. Erin later completed her Master of Laws (LL.M- Health) at the University of Ottawa. This joint law and social work training grounds Erin’s unique approach.

Since settling in Ottawa in 2005, Erin has worked at community organizations and larger institutions including at a Law Foundation of Ontario/ Legal Aid Ontario ‘Access to Justice’ project. Erin has been a frequent guest lecturer and part-time professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa. During her two year appointment at Ontario’s Human Rights Tribunal, Erin mediated and adjudicated hundreds of applications under the Human Rights Code reflecting her long standing commitment to equality and equity. Aside from her professional interests, Erin has consistently been involved in her community as a volunteer, including at the Canadian Mental Health Association, the Dalhousie Food Cupboard (the Ottawa Food Bank), CCI’s skating program for newcomers and refugee sponsorship (JFS). Erin has held Board roles at Dalhousie Food Cupboard and the Ticket Defence Program.
